New Uses for Premium Hemp Oil – CBD

Living through these stressful times can trigger anxious moments for us all.  The coronavirus and related issues such as social distancing, job insecurity, worry about the spread of disease and more can cause us to worry about the outcomes for ourselves and for our loved ones.

What are Anxiety Disorders?

Healthcare professionals consider anxiety disorders to be a variety of mental health conditions that are characterized by disproportionate worrying about future live events.  This worrying can bring about a variety of physiological responses in the body such as difficulty concentrating, restlessness, shortness of breath, agitation, sleep disruption, sweating, and muscle tension.

Anxiety can be triggered by an event or activity that makes you nervous or worried.  Anxiety can be a reaction to your stress, but it can also occur in people who have no obvious stressors.

How can CBD help?

Many people (perhaps millions) successfully use CBD (premium hemp oil) to reduce anxiety and stress caused by our fast-paced lifestyles. There are many researchers looking at the correlation between CBD and anxiety relief.

While more research is needed, there are many studies that support the use of CBD to help with anxiety.  One example is a well-known study from 2011 (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21307846). In the clinical trial, patients with social anxiety disorder (SAD) were either given a dose of CBD oil or a placebo. They then had to do a social speaking simulation and their anxiety levels measured by different parameters were assessed.  A CBD premium hemp oil that many find helpful for Anxiety can be found

People who had received the actual CBD showed significantly lower anxiety levels than participants who had been given a placebo. Clinical trials and research are ongoing to enable us to better understand how CBD works with the endocannabinoid receptors in the brain.  However, there is evidence to suggest that premium hemp oil might even work against other disorders such as depression and addictive disorders.

What does the science show us?

CBD works by interacting with one of the body’s own regulatory systems called the endocannabinoid system (ECS).  Endocannabinoid receptors are located throughout the body and the system is a part of our central nervous system. We find ECS receptors most abundantly in the brain but they are also in the gut, reproductive system, bones and immune cells.

The ECS plays an essential role in keeping the body within a narrow range of operating conditions.  We call this homeostasis.  The ECS controls some very important functions such as mood, memory, stress, sleep, behavior, appetite, pain, immune function and reproductive health. Endocannabinoids are naturally produced and they bind to the endocannabinoid receptors and regulate all the above functions – the endocannabinoid system plays an important role in keeping us healthy and happy.

Researchers believe that CBD/premium hemp oil doesn’t interact directly with the ECS receptors, but instead, it stimulates the endocannabinoid system to produce its own cannabinoids. In addition, it slows their breakdown by inhibiting the FAAH enzyme, so the endocannabinoids can stay in your body for longer.

Does CBD have any risks?

The World Health Organization (WHO) has stated that CBD is safe and with no addictive potential. In a 1000 mg CBD, 30 ml bottle, a full 1 ml pipette contains 33 mg CBD. This means that 1 drop contains a bit more than 1.5 mg of CBD.

Most people take between 10-100 mg CBD per day which is thought by most medical professionals to be completely safe. One study showed that when you take doses of CBD above 1000 mg you could see a small effect on liver enzymes but this dose is uncommon and not recommended. If you have any doubts, consult your personal physician.

How do I know what CBD to use?

While CBD is an amazing product that offers incredible results, it is important to know a little bit about the CBD products that you are going to use.  There is little government regulation over CBD products and unfortunately there are some unscrupulous sellers who take short cuts and use inferior product just to increase their profit.  Always look for quality.

So, how can you be sure that your CBD product is safe?  Here are some key items to look for:

  • Look for hemp products made from US grown hemp as the US Department of Agriculture regulates safe cultivation of hemp;
  • Look for products that are grown using organic farming guidelines (see below);
  • Ensure that the product manufacturing is certified by ISO (see below);
  • Ensure that manufacturer is cGMP certified (see below)
  • Look for manufacturers who are FDA Registered (see below);
  • Only use products that are laboratory tested in independent, certified labs and let you view the laboratory analysis.
